Lola Rennt
At first, I didn't understand what was so important about Lola being late, but after a while, it became clear that simply being where you say you will, can save a lot of trouble. To think so many things were capable of happening just from being late. In the beginning, I was really interested in to what was going to happen, but after someone dying the second time around, I was a little tired of watching. In the end though, I was glad how it turned out, even though I saw it coming that they would just happen to have an extra 100k. I thought the sames scenes and different outcomes emphasized how unpredictable life can be. In the first scenario, the woman with the stroller's child gets taken away; in the second, she wins the lottery. Or how the kid selling his bike gets beaten up, and then finds his wife at a diner. Then in another instance, he becomes homeless. You never know what life will throw at you - you just have to live it. However, I did think it was pretty ironic that Mr. Meyer encountered the three thugs by hitting their car. The different outcomes, I think, gave the watcher different emotions, which made me want to see the other outcomes. The first ending was simply sad, it made me feel like giving up and being done. The second ending I just thought of what Lola was going to do with her life now, since she had 100k. And the very last ending made me feel like everything was going to be fine. All of the hardships, the anxiety about what was going to happen to Lola's boyfriend seemed so insignificant compared to the life they were capable of living with all the money Lola won. I also thought that the movie was meant to show what one person's actions are capable of causing. You're actions, as insignificant as they seem, can have huge repercussion on other people's lives. I would only recommend this movie to a friend as long as they were studying German and wanted an interesting film to watch. Otherwise, I don't think I would recommend this movie to just any random one of my friends, because they wouldn't be as interested in watching English subtitles, without being interested in trying to retain what was being said. All in all, I thought the movie was okay, hard to compete with today's box-toppers, but it interesting hearing German, while getting to see the English subtitles.
