The Euro is the main currency used in seventeen countries in the Eurozone (which Germany is a founding member of) and then six other countries totaling 23 countries that use the Euro. It was adopted by Austria, Belgium, Finland, France, Germany, Ireland, Italy, Luxembourg, Netherlands, Portugal, and Spain in 1999. The reason they adopted it was to help create a unification of Europe. In 2002 was the first time that Euro coins was printed and used. The countries opposing the Euro is, the UK, Sweden, and Denmark. The Euro has faired very well since it was adopted. Today the Euro is worth more then the US dollar, the ratio is 1:1.6 favoring the Euro.
